a spring tour is in the works for april; check out the dates page for what's starting to shape up. we'll be stopping in a few familiar cities
along the way as well as a few new ones. austin shows during march will be posted soon, so check back if you'll be in texas next month. thanks go out to grand champeen for turning 15 a few weeks ago, here's hoping they continue delivering the rock & roll for that many
more!

11.21.07
so i've come to terms with the fact that we will, potentially, never update this website the way we plan to. i'm sure you've realized that by now. we do have some things to talk about and to let you know about.

first off, we have posted a new song on our myspace page that will be on our forthcoming album. it is a roughish mix of a song called DEAR JOHN LETTER. it was included on the AUSTRALIAN CATTLE GOD sampler that went out in new york's cmj festival media bags last month. although it is not the final version/mix of the song, we hope you like it.

speaking of the record, we have been working on it over 4-5 day sessions, spread out over several months. intentionally so, but as of late, unintentionally so. we are hoping to be finished with it early next year. next year seems like a long time, but 2008 is right around the corner. there is a bigger update on that subject that we can't discuss at the moment, but will inform you about in the near-ish future...exciting stuff.

so we spent most of the month of june touring around some of the united states, but have been laying low around austin. this is about to change. we will be participating in emo's annual free week for our fourth year in a row. these shows are always really fun and we hope to see you there. it's been awhile. i know it seems early to mention sxsw, but we will also have several things going on this year that we'll post more details on soon.

lastly, i'd like to talk about lance hahn. i was not friends with him, and i'm not going to pretend that i was. i knew him, but we were acquaintances at best. i was a big fan of cringer, and an even bigger fan of j church. many years ago, i played in a band that had the honor of opening for j church and we couldn't have been more thrilled. our first brush with "stars." being from a small town at the time, this was a big deal for us, and we really did think the world of lance. after the show, he came up to us and gave us lots of compliments, and was extremely nice and funny. i remember we talked about the foo fighters (this was around the time of the foo fighters first record). i remember he said that he thought dave grohl tried to sing too "hard." we gave him a copy of all of our merch and said goodbye.

many years later, i ran into him at sound exchange and he remembered me, my band, and where we had played with them. i couldn't have been more impressed. i would randomly run into him from time to time around austin. he always remembered me and was always great. he made me wish that i was better friends with him. such a sweet guy, and one of the nicest people i'd ever met. i know everyone says that about him, but it really was true. take care.

tour recap

i know that i always say we are going to keep this website updated more often, but it rarely happens. even when there are things to talk about, the updates still don't happen the way i say they will. better late than never?

we also said that we'd be doing daily updates, from the road, of the june midwest tour. although we had every intention of doing so, we didn't. however, this one can't be chalked up to laziness or a lack of things to report! it seems we suffered a casualty in the form of a laptop. sadly, this "death" occurred on the second day of the two and a half week tour. hence, no blogs. it seems that our van had a bit of a vendetta against our computer and ran its ass over in an oklahoma city driveway. the van claims it was an accident, but we carry continued suspicion.

the tour went well. thanks a ton to everyone that came to the shows, bought a cd or t-shirt, fed us, and/or let us sleep on something they own or rent. we did sleep in the van once, and it was not bad at all. i can only speak for myself, mind you. that "sense of adventure" is not lost on me, and if anything, i romanticize the shit out of it in my own head. for the most part we had really good shows, a few great ones, and a few we'd rather forget. i will say that i was surprised at the overall lack of stinkers, and that is a good thing. that being said, i don't think we'll be going back to dallas anytime soon...

what's next? we'll continue finishing up new material, and pick up where we left off this past spring with recording the album. it's currently about 3/4 finished, and is sounding great. we are excited and proud of it so far, and hopefully, that feeling will continue as we wrap it up. we've also just moved into a new rehearsal space that we'll be sharing with our good friends from the band ume. check them out. some new press is posted in the about section of the site - thanks to the cedar rapids/iowa city gazette for the attention. take care.

06.06.07
well our departure date is rapidly approaching, and the summer tour will be under way. all of our dates are confirmed, and the van is anxious. summer tour sounds so extravagant, and really, in our minds, it is. we're really looking forward to meeting new people, visiting some new cities and playing songs for said people in those places.

also, we have some new merch that comes in the form of t-shirts. new designs are here, including a parody of the very iconic "never mind the bollocks here's the sex pistols" album cover. we'll have all of these t-shirts for sale at the shows, but if we aren't coming to your city this time around or you won't be able to make a show, you can get them right here on the merchandise page. hope to see you soon, and take care.
-danny

05.08.07
hope everyone is well; we're busy finishing the new record and making final arrangements for the june tour. new photos and show dates are posted as of today - maybe we'll see some of you next month! we still have a few dates to fill, so check back if you don't see a show listed for a city near you. don't forget to wish mom a happy mother's day!
-josh

03.14.07
our apologies to those who showed up to a dark and locked scoot inn for our show tonight with the missing tapes. we were just as surprised - apparently no one at the club thought it would be important to contact the bands performing to let them know that the club's liquor license had been suspended earlier in the day. at least that's what we were told when we showed up to load in. again, sorry if you came out tonight, and we hope you can make it out to the hole in the wall on saturday the 17th. I personally guarantee that the bar will be open for business!
-josh

02.28.07
hello out there. sorry for the lack of updates. i'd like to take a second to "time travel" back to february 9th and briefly talk about the show we played with the lemonheads. in a word: cold. despite the cold and the numb feet that came as a result of it, we had a really great time. mr. dando was very nice and funny, and the band was great. thanks to everyone that came early to see us. we are appreciative of your enthusiasm.

the next morning we entered the studio to begin work on our first, proper, full-length album. with a shortish break in between sessions, we have basically been in there since. we are working with our swedish friend, lars goransson. he recorded our debut ep and is a great, talented, guy. we couldn't be more excited at how it is turning out. we are taking the month of march off to play a bunch of shows, and will hopefully finish up the record in april.

check the dates link for show info related and unrelated to sxsw. a special note to the show we will be playing this friday (march 2nd) at emo's. we got on this bill pretty last minute, so we will be opening the show at a fairly early time slot...9:00 sharp! so come early, and hopefully we'll see you there. take care.
-danny

02.09.07
ok, so we're pretty excited to be playing with the lemonheads tonight! the show is at emo's on the outside stage, and we'll go on at 9:00. oh yeah, new t-shirts will be available as well...hope to see you there!
-josh

12.24.06
just a quick thanks to everyone who has helped us out this past year by coming to shows, booking us, buying merch and offering advice & feedback - we really appreciate it! hope everyone is having a good holiday so far; we're taking a few days off to spend time with friends and family but will be back in action on friday jan 5th for emo's free week. recording of the new album begins in february, so lots to look forward to in the next few months. keep checking in, thanks again for all of the support, and have a great new year!

11.15.06
state of the union

in usual fashion (pun?), we have not updated this thing
in a little while. there are however some things to talk about,
so i'll use this opportunity to do a sort-of "state of the union"
blog. things are great. as of last week, we are the proud
owners of a van, so let the traveling/touring begin.
we already have some things in the works. our van
is a chevy, and it even has one of those little ladders on
the back next to the spare tire...awesome. we are thrilled.

we have also officially booked studio time to record our
first, full-length album. our debut ep is still available. if you
can't find it in your local record store, then you can very
easily order it from us ($5 ppd). we are professionals.

i have also posted some upcoming shows. we will be playing
at the mohawk on thursday, november 30th. this is a newish
venue, that from a design standpoint, looks great. we have
never played there before, so we should all soak it in together.
in all seriousness, we'd love to see you. the next day, we will
be heading 3 hours west to play at the steel penny in san
angelo. lastly, we will be playing a big event organized
and sponsored by the austin chronicle. ever heard of it?
there is a catch to this show. you have to have a ticket to
get in. no ticket, no entry. tickets = free. make sense?
check the chronicle in the coming weeks to find out more
info on how/where you can get tickets to this show. we will
have a limited amount to give away at our show at the mohawk
on thursday, november 30th.

a kinks hoot nite is in the future, and lots of other things. we
hope you are doing well. take care.

almost there turn 2 review

we'd like to say thanks to soundcheck magazine for the
kind words they had to say about us in their review of the
almost there turn 2 cd review. if you'd like to read it,
check out the september issue (the one with 30 seconds
to mars on the cover) or click here. we're flattered and
appreciative.
-danny

09.01.06
i posted info for the show (friday, september 22nd)
under the dates link. it will be at emo's lounge (also
known as emo's IV), on the corner of 6th and red river.
this will complete our, until now, secret goal to play every
stage at emo's. we hope to see you there.
-danny

08.30.06
let off some steam, vincent

so i'll be posting a new show that we have added for friday,
september 22nd. the details are being worked out. we are
looking forward to this show, because it will be our first, full
set with our new bass player, deb norris. do your darndest
to make it out, because it should be alot of fun.

goodness, now that i have gotten that band talk out of the
way, i can finally talk about project runway. michael was his
usual, humble self. i like him more and more every week.
i'd really like to see him win. the "negative" critique that
the judges threw uli's way seemed odd, but only because
i don't think that has ever happened before. they usually
" love her stuff, because she got game. in my opinion,
she's a bit of a dark horse...consistent talent with not alot
of camera time. i will say i did agree with the judges in that
her stuff is beginning to get redundant. vincent managed to
survive another week. good grief. that guy has dodged more
bullets than schwartzeneger in that movie "commando."
jeffery did good, but he's still sitting in the proverbial
corner, as far as i'm concerned. he has yet to be completely
forgiven for his disrespect to angela's mom, and therefore,
mom's everywhere. like a gang, you mess with one mom,
you've messed with them all. i liked him quite a bit up until
that point, and i have a feeling that i'll, eventually, let it go.
his outfit was done well, but it looked like something dave
navarro might wear, and i hate that guy. angela. i don't
think she deserved the grief she got from the others, (mainly
jeffery), but it was time. i think is is cool when someone can
develop a signature style, but when your signature style involves
those little rose things...there is a problem. i don't care if there
was a killer sale at hobby lobby, just say no to little rose things.
-danny

08.23.06
mama drama...make it work.

on the project runway tip, it wasn't much of a shocker tonight. farewell, robert. you can color me indifferent on that one. i WILL say that i have absolutely no understanding of vincent. he won the f'n challenge! are you kidding? to his credit, it was the best CRAP of all the CRAP he's made so far. that's a point for you, vincent, but you still suck. i was pissed at the lack of respect shown to angela's mama by jeffery. there's nothing worse than seeing a mother cry...well vincent's next "creation" may be worse, but i bet it's a close race. hey jeffery, it isn't her fault that you were an alcoholic, but i guess the world DOES owe you something. my mistake, imagine if someone talked to his mom that way ...forget about it. oh yeah, rollins called, and he wants his neck back. from day one, my cards have been on michael...unpretentious, genuine, and talented. uli anyone?

i really don't mean to turn this into a project runway blog, but we are called the fall collection so...
-danny

08.15.06
alison! vincent should have totally been thrown off.
the guy is a nut job, and even worse, makes stupid
clothes...consistently. i suppose he makes for better television.
the guy has been in the bottom two almost every week, and
for good reason i might add. he sucks. well, project runway,
you did it. you got a genuine emotion out of me and it was
a very minor rage. alison, you should have made it to the top 3.
michael, i'm really counting on you.
anyway, NEW time slots are posted. check 'em out.
while you are checking things out...go to youtube.com and
check out "kennedy your mama." this is really funny. enjoy.
-danny

08.07.06
time slots, for the september 2nd show, are posted. thanks.
-danny

08.05.06
i have posted the line-up for the almost there cd release on
september 2nd at the continental club. i'll get the time slots put
in very soon (when i find out myself.). more shows are being
booked as we speak, so check back on that info. i'm going to try
to start putting a little more on here than just the usual news.
i'll begin this experiment by putting my current (this week's) top five:

1. the futureheads - news & tributes (great record and an
AMAZING live band) *i really love this band. when they were in town (late june) we crossed paths at the whole foods salad bar, and i felt like a school girl.

2. let's rock again! (joe strummer documentary)

3. youtube.com keyword: washington. (an animated rap song
about the former president...hilarious!)

4. paul weller - catch flame! (live album)

5. sebadoh - weed forestin' lp (low-fi brilliance)
-danny

07.12.06
confusion created by a recently formed canadian band called, the fall collection, has left people scratching their heads asking if we are playing a canadian music festival with hot hot heat, among others. although it sounds like a good time (and we do appreciate the northern web traffic they have sent our direction), we are not playing said festival. we apologize on behalf of the canadian fall collection (who, apparently, lack the creativity to come up with an original band name), for the confusion. thanks.
-danny

06.13.06
so, it's been a loooooong time since anything was updated here. although, i'd like to think that this time it was for good reason. we have gone through a "changing of the guard," and would like to welcome our new bass player, deb norris, to the band. we will also be recruiting a fourth member to the band on 2nd guitar and piano/organ duties. are you that person? get in touch. we are really anxious to get back out and play live, record, and travel. sadly, the preparation will take a little time, but i can say with the utmost confidence and optimism that things are currently sounding great, and will only get better. so, please accept our apology for the lack of updates, shows, and overall cyber-presence. we'll be back soon enough. thanks and take care.
-danny

03.22.06
sxsw. had fun, but i'm glad it is over. some personal highlights would include seeing/meeting billy bragg, running into some long, lost friends, and watching superchunk rock antone's to pieces. very inspiring. i hope you all had fun. take care, and we'll see you soon.
-danny d.

03.08.06
i have posted our sxsw dates. i've tried to be really clear on the 'dates' link, but just in case i wasn't, we are playing two shows on thursday, march 16th. one day party, and much later in the day, a night show. you do NOT have to have a wristband for either one of these shows, but the night one, at the troubadour saloon, has a $5 cover, ONLY if you are a minor. check the 'dates' link for more info (addresses, bands, etc.), and we really hope you can make it out. spread the word.

on a very different note if anyone has been paying attention, can you believe tom delay won the republican primaries?!? that is truly unbelievable, and sadly, i am baffled. what in the hell is going on? seriously?!?
-danny d.

03.01.06
first off, a HUGE thanks to everyone who came to see us open for bayside and smoking popes. your enthusiasm and feedback caught us way off guard. the bands were great, but the crowd was even better. in short, the show was an absolute blast. we'll have to do it again sometime...like maybe this friday? hmmm? check out the dates link to see our upcoming shows, including the free one this friday at the hole in the wall. we will be adding some sxsw stuff very soon. i know i said that about a month ago, but i mean it this time. on an unrelated note, i went and saw the wedding present (not the wedding crashers, although i hear it is funny) last night, and they were fantastic. take care, and maybe we'll see you soon. bye.
-danny d.

02.07.06

it's been a while since an update (again), and it is time to do so. we begin recording in two months from yesterday. we are closer to being ready, so a more realistic excitement is growing. we have confidence that it will come out really good. time will tell. we have also added some shows, and will be adding some sxsw dates in the next week or so. check back, and keep in touch.
-danny d.
